What Women Really Use to Manage Period Pain

What Women Really Use to Manage Period Pain

Period pain affects up to 95% of women, yet it’s often under treated. At Wave Bye, our founder Dr. Margo Harrison conducted a survey of 305 women to better understand what people are doing to manage their symptoms. The results are revealing that women are using a mix of medical and non-medical approaches to solve specific issues.

The most common approach:

56% of women use ibuprofen to manage pain but the next four methods might surprise you:

  • Sleep and rest (45%)
  • Heating pads or warm compresses (43%)
  • Taking a bath or shower (39%)
  • Acetaminophen ( 41%)

What does this information reveal to us? That women aren’t just looking for a quick fix medicine, they’re seeking relief through whatever might work.

What problems are women actually trying to solve?

  • Leaks (21%)
  • Cramps (20%)
  • Pain (14%)
  • Heavy flow (8%)
  • Discomfort (6%)
  • Bloating (4%)

Symptoms showed up in numerous forms. However, pain is not everything women are trying to manage. It’s also about how the menstrual cycle disrupts everyday life.

Why does this matter?

This research proves what we already know here at Wave Bye, we need a targeted effective approach that addresses symptoms without masking the problem.

That’s why our products are developed with real experiences in mind. Whether its unpredictable cycles, heavy flow or debilitating cramps, we have the right support that makes all the difference.
